כִּי֩ אָנֹכִ֨י יָדַ֜עְתִּי אֶת־ הַמַּחֲשָׁבֹ֗ת אֲשֶׁ֧ר אָנֹכִ֛י חֹשֵׁ֥ב עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה מַחְשְׁב֤וֹת שָׁלוֹם֙ וְלֹ֣א לְרָעָ֔ה לָתֵ֥ת לָכֶ֖ם אַחֲרִ֥ית וְתִקְוָֽה׃
וַיִּקַּ֞ח יוֹחָנָ֤ן בֶּן־ קָרֵ֙חַ֙ וְכָל־ שָׂרֵ֣י הַחֲיָלִ֔ים אֵ֖ת כָּל־ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יְהוּדָ֑ה אֲשֶׁר־ שָׁ֗בוּ מִכָּל־ הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִדְּחוּ־ שָׁ֔ם לָג֖וּר בְּאֶ֥רֶץ יְהוּדָֽה׃
אַחַ֣ר ׀ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה גִּדַּל֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֜וֹשׁ אֶת־ הָמָ֧ן בֶּֽן־ הַמְּדָ֛תָא הָאֲגָגִ֖י וַֽיְנַשְּׂאֵ֑הוּ וַיָּ֙שֶׂם֙ אֶת־ כִּסְא֔וֹ מֵעַ֕ל כָּל־ הַשָּׂרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּֽוֹ׃
וְשָׁחַ֛ט אֶת־ בֶּ֥ן הַבָּקָ֖ר לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְ֠הִקְרִיבוּ בְּנֵ֨י אַהֲרֹ֤ן הֽ͏ַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ אֶת־ הַדָּ֔ם וְזָרְק֨וּ אֶת־ הַדָּ֤ם עַל־ הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ סָבִ֔יב אֲשֶׁר־ פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃
וַיֹּ֡אמֶר אִם־ נָא֩ מָצָ֨אתִי חֵ֤ן בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ אֲדֹנָ֔י יֵֽלֶךְ־ נָ֥א אֲדֹנָ֖י בְּקִרְבֵּ֑נוּ כִּ֤י עַם־ קְשֵׁה־ עֹ֙רֶף֙ ה֔וּא וְסָלַחְתָּ֛ לַעֲוֺנֵ֥נוּ וּלְחַטָּאתֵ֖נוּ וּנְחַלְתָּֽנוּ׃
וַ֠יֹּאמְרוּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֤ים הָהֵ֙מָּה֙ אֵלָ֔יו אֲנַ֥חְנוּ טְמֵאִ֖ים לְנֶ֣פֶשׁ אָדָ֑ם לָ֣מָּה נִגָּרַ֗ע לְבִלְתִּ֨י הַקְרִ֜ב אֶת־ קָרְבַּ֤ן יְהוָה֙ בְּמֹ֣עֲד֔וֹ בְּת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
וַתֵּ֤בְךְּ עָלָיו֙ שִׁבְעַ֣ת הַיָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־ הָיָ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֑ה וַיְהִ֣י ׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י וַיַּגֶּד־ לָהּ֙ כִּ֣י הֱצִיקַ֔תְהוּ וַתַּגֵּ֥ד הַחִידָ֖ה לִבְנֵ֥י עַמָּֽהּ׃
וַיַּ֣עַשׂ חוּרָ֔ם אֶת־ הַ֨סִּיר֔וֹת וְאֶת־ הַיָּעִ֖ים וְאֶת־ הַמִּזְרָק֑וֹת וַיְכַ֣ל חירם חוּרָ֗ם לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ אֶת־ הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֛ה לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה בְּבֵ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ قَاتَلَ مَعَهُ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٌ فَمَا وَهَنُوا لِمَا أَصَابَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَمَا ضَعُفُوا وَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الصَّابِرِينَ
