י"ב פשוטות, י"ב ולא י"ג, י"ב ולא י"א. חקקן חצבן צרפן שקלן המירן, וצר בהן מזלות וחדשים ומנהיגים:
וַתִּבָּקַ֣ע הָעִ֗יר וְכָל־ אַנְשֵׁ֨י הַמִּלְחָמָ֤ה ׀ הַלַּ֙יְלָה֙ דֶּ֜רֶךְ שַׁ֣עַר ׀ בֵּ֣ין הַחֹמֹתַ֗יִם אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־ גַּ֣ן הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְכַשְׂדִּ֥ים עַל־ הָעִ֖יר סָבִ֑יב וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ דֶּ֥רֶךְ הָעֲרָבָֽה׃
וַיִּשְׁחַ֖ט אֶת־ הָעֹלָ֑ה וַ֠יַּמְצִאוּ בְּנֵ֨י אַהֲרֹ֤ן אֵלָיו֙ אֶת־ הַדָּ֔ם וַיִּזְרְקֵ֥הוּ עַל־ הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ סָבִֽיב׃
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
