י"ב פשוטות, י"ב ולא י"ג, י"ב ולא י"א. חקקן חצבן צרפן שקלן המירן, וצר בהן מזלות וחדשים ומנהיגים:
וַיְהִ֨י לִשְׁלֹמֹ֜ה אַרְבַּעַת֩ אֲלָפִ֨ים אֻֽרְי֤וֹת סוּסִים֙ וּמַרְכָּב֔וֹת וּשְׁנֵים־ עָשָׂ֥ר אֶ֖לֶף פָּרָשִׁ֑ים וַיַּנִּיחֵם֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י הָרֶ֔כֶב וְעִם־ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
עַל־ חַטֹּ֤אות יָרָבְעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָטָ֔א וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בְּכַעְס֕וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִכְעִ֔יס אֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
וְדֶ֙רֶךְ֙ לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם כְּמַרְאֵ֣ה הַלְּשָׁכ֗וֹת אֲשֶׁר֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ הַצָּפ֔וֹן כְּאָרְכָּ֖ן כֵּ֣ן רָחְבָּ֑ן וְכֹל֙ מוֹצָ֣אֵיהֶ֔ן וּכְמִשְׁפְּטֵיהֶ֖ן וּכְפִתְחֵיהֶֽן׃
וַיְהִ֗י מִקְצֵה֙ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ בָּנָ֥ה שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה אֶת־ שְׁנֵ֣י הַבָּתִּ֑ים אֶת־ בֵּ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה וְאֶת־ בֵּ֥ית הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
כְּכֹ֨ל אֲשֶׁר־ שָׁאַ֜לְתָּ מֵעִ֨ם יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ בְּחֹרֵ֔ב בְּי֥וֹם הַקָּהָ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹ֣א אֹסֵ֗ף לִשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙ אֶת־ קוֹל֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֔י וְאֶת־ הָאֵ֨שׁ הַגְּדֹלָ֥ה הַזֹּ֛את לֹֽא־ אֶרְאֶ֥ה ע֖וֹד וְלֹ֥א אָמֽוּת׃
כָּֽל־ הַבְּכ֡וֹר אֲשֶׁר֩ יִוָּלֵ֨ד בִּבְקָרְךָ֤ וּבְצֹֽאנְךָ֙ הַזָּכָ֔ר תַּקְדִּ֖ישׁ לַיהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ לֹ֤א תַעֲבֹד֙ בִּבְכֹ֣ר שׁוֹרֶ֔ךָ וְלֹ֥א תָגֹ֖ז בְּכ֥וֹר צֹאנֶֽךָ׃
And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’s anointed is before him.
As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinnah, Benhanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were, Zoheth, and Benzoheth.
And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
λέγει γάρ· Καιρῷ δεκτῷ ἐπήκουσά σου καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ σωτηρίας ἐβοήθησά σοι· ἰδοὺ νῦν καιρὸς εὐπρόσδεκτος, ἰδοὺ νῦν ἡμέρα σωτηρίας·
